I could understand this excuse when it first occurred in windows 7 but surely by now there could be a better fix within windows? But I digress, back to the fix. It is suggested by some that it is really an Adobe problem, caused by their software overwriting certain windows registryĮntries.

Quite frankly the reader lacks all the niceties available in half a dozen free readers including Adobe, Nitro and Foxit specifically designed for the desktop.įor the benefit of others facing the same problem though, I have had this problem before on Windows 7,Windows 8 and now Windows 8.1. Large swathes of blackness and you are continually groping in the blackness to discover what limited functionality is available. The reader appears to be designed for tablets, which are generally not used in the same manner as a desktop. I already use it sometimes but only for small documents of a page or two. Thankyou for the suggestion of the reader.

In reality Windows 8.1 is just a service pack for the failed concepts in the original Windows 8 release.Īnyway DC does work it's just that it breaks pdf search when it installs but I have gone back to Adobe 11 as DC also wants to operate as if I were using a mobile phone/tablet with annoying popups. Does this mean that DC would not run on a computer with windows 7 service pack 1 but only on the original release of windows 7? The requirements also make no mention of win 7 I'm just a little surprised that windows 8.1 is a different animal to window 8. (To save time, unless you really want to stick with search, go to the last few paragraphs for a better alternative.)
